There is no better time to hit up a festival here in Oz than in Summer. With a festival on during literally every weekend this season, it opens up the possibilities for road trips, benders and memorable festival experiences. In saying that, we may have too much choice, so, we’re giving you a few options to add to your festival itinerary that will deliver the goods.
#1 St. Kilda Festival
With the combination of the beach, free entry and a slew of stellar Australian musicians, the St. Kilda Festival is nothing short of a behemoth. The lineup alone is massive this year – with the finest of established and upcoming talent playing the festival. Boasting 80 acts including The Jezabels, Dan Sultan, Tkay Maidza and a DJ set by Architecture in Helsinki, who could expect less from the largest free music festival in Australia.
#2 Sydney City Limits
Brought to you by the brilliant minds that put on Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival, this new addition to the festival line-up is sure to be a good one. Mirrored off the mega-fest in Austin, this one-day festival brings together the best of music, food and the arts. Just look at the pure talent in the line-up: Beck, Justice, Phoenix and Thundercat are a small fragment of this 30+ list. Make sure you’re there for the inaugural event, as the festival is surely going to get bigger in the years to come.
#3 Party In The Paddock
Nestled in an exclusive meadow just a short drive from Launceston in Tassie, Party In The Paddock gives the finest elements of a camping festival. The main stage will home the likes of The Avalanches, Grouplove and Ball Park Music. If you’re not at the stage, you can enjoy Vibetown for your fix of art, comedy, yoga and glitter (so much glitter) or the new addition, Funk in the Forest – a psychedelic rave that will keep you going into the early hours of the morning.
#4 Electric Garden
Here is one for all you electronica lovers. Prepare yourself for the finest in house and techno both locally and international. Legendary producer Fatboy Slim will be bringing all the tunes alongside Armand Van Helden, Luke Million, Motez and heaps more. We hope you like to sweat because there is no way you’ll resist this barrage of bangers.
#5 So Frenchy So Chic
Try something a little different with this French-inspired festival. Focusing more on luxury and relaxation, enjoy the pleasures of Summer without all the dirty work. Bask in the sun, enjoy a glass of champagne and soak in the beautiful sounds of world music. If you’re looking to relax this Summer and enjoy the (brief) pampered life, this festival is a must do.
