Honestly this fkn coronavirus is causing big havoc, and Download Festival is the latest casualty. Only one week out from the fest, and they’ve pulled the plug – with My Chemical Romance also cancelling their reunion shows in a BIG SAD.
The festival was originally meant to take place in Melbourne (next Friday) and Sydney (next Saturday), however the widespread fears about the coronavirus means the fest organisers had little option.
The decision I guess doesn’t come as a huge surprise, and you can bet organisers have been working their asses off to try and bring this to life.
My Chemical Romance announced the decision to postpone their appearances in Australia and NZ via Instagram, and it’s said that the festival are trying to rearrange headline shows for MCR and Deftones for later this year.

It’s another sad blow for the wider live music scene, after Dark Mofo was cancelled and Coachella was pushed back. And with the way things are going, we could see plenty more cancellations in the future for big and small events.
Ticket holders will receive a full refund (including all booking fees).
