Well friends, it’s mid-year — the weather is cooling down, dark nights are here to stay, and we’re all wishing summer would just come back already. Gone are the long days in the sun, sipping iced drinks on the sand, frozen açai in hand. But it means you have half a year left to lock in that (#insert iconic travel hashtag only you will use here) overseas escape.
From yachting in Europe to road trippin’ the USA, the possibilities are endless, and it can be hard to choose your destination. Well, this year, look to the stars for some divine intervention. Here’s where you should head based off your star sign.
Gemini (21 May – 20 June)
Ah, Geminis. You may get a bad rap sometimes, but really your changeable nature is just misunderstood. Never one to settle, you like to be on the move. Exploring new places and meeting new people is a must, and anything less than that is a bore. Why not try somewhere in South East Asia? Try backpacking through Vietnam and Cambodia. From temples and ancient archaeological sites, to untouched national park, to bustling city centres filled with people, South East Asia is sure to offer all the variety you could possibly want.
Cancer (21 June – 22 July)
Our Cancer friends love a bit of luxury and indulgence, but they also love spending time with loved ones. For this reason, why not make your way to France? Whether it’s a boutique hotel in Paris, or a picturesque AirBnB in the Champagne region, getting yourself to France will feed all your senses. Get a group together and find an apartment with a kitchen. Your love of entertaining will give you the perfect opportunity to savour everything French cuisine has to offer. French wine and cheese night anyone?
Leo (23 July – 22 August)
Leo — your star sign has a flair for the dramatic. You love being the centre of attention and need to be where the party is. If you haven’t done it already, a Sail Croatia tour is for you. Backflipping off the bow of your sailboat will make the perfect Boomerang for all your friends to feed off their FOMO. With different ports all along the way, including party cities and historic monuments (as well as iconic GoT filming locations), sailing and island hopping the Croatian coast will feed your need for adventure, partying and more than a little attention.
Virgo (23 August – 22 September)
Virgo is the perfectionist of the zodiac. And with your naturally inquisitive mind, you’re always looking to learn and engage with your environment. Prague is the place for you. It’s been voted the most beautiful city in the world, and within weeks you could be wandering around Old Town, sampling local delicacies, exploring the town on the way to the castle grounds. Prague has all the history and beauty a Virgo could ever want. Don’t forget to check out the astronomical clock in Old Town Square — it’s the oldest still operating in the world!
Libra (23 September – 22 October)
The scales are balanced and Libra is in charge. The perfect holiday for you thoughtful bunch of Libras exists at the meeting point of peaceful and varied. Taking a trip to Japan this summer will offer you just that. With the untouched landscapes around Mt Fuji, mountain hikes and peaceful zen gardens, Libras will find their tranquility. But with the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Kyoto right near by, you won’t want for variety. Savour a little bit of everything and find your balance.
Scorpio (23 Oct – 21 Nov)
Scorpios love to explore and discover hidden gems. You’re drawn to the mysterious. But when you holiday, you’re also looking to unwind. Why not give the Galapagos Islands a go? With breathtaking snorkeling, stunning stargazing, and animals found no where else on earth, Galapagos will take care of every inch of your desire to unwind and discover. Sagittarius (22 Nov – 21 Dec)
Sagittarius is always looking for adventure. Your star sign is the centaur ready for the hunt, so you’re always on the look out for some excitement. How about heading up to Northern Africa and the Middle East to fang around the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert in a 4WD? Follow that with a quick skip over to Abu Dhabi for a trip to Ferrari World where you can test your stomach on the fastest roller coaster in the world.
Capricorn (22 Dec – 19 Jan)
Capricorns appreciate a bit of luxury and comfort, but their star sign is also ruled by an innate sense of adventure. Heading to Reykjavik in Iceland during the summer months could be the perfect chance to find both. While it’s still chilly (the average temperature is 10ºC), you don’t have to battle with sub-zero temperatures all the time. And this means you can still take advantage of the many geothermal pools scattered around the country. Just don’t forget your eye mask — that far north, you’re looking at almost 24 hours of sunlight.
Aquarius (20 January – 18 February)
Aquarius is the star sign of the future. You love being ahead of the crowd, so bustling modern cities are often where you find your groove. But you also have a sense of the bohemian about you and love the chance to tap into those roots. Heading over to Spain is the perfect mesh of these two instincts. In Madrid, you’ll find the combination of a modern European city with all the architecture, art and culture you could need.
Pisces (19 February – 20 March)
Like the fish that represents this star sign, Pisces go with the flow. They’re free spirited and, like their fishy friends, love the ocean. A holiday for a Pisces demands beach side relaxation with a chance to explore the local offerings and surrounds. An overwater bungalow in Fiji will be the perfect place to relax with a cocktail one day, and explore the natural rainforests the next. Digging your toes in the sand with a sketchbook or journal as the waves lap the shore is your dream day to relax, unwind and get creative.
Aries (21 March – 19 April)
Now you Aries folk love a bit of adventure. Never one to lounge by the pool, you need to keep things interesting. How about backpacking across South America? Hiking Machu Picchu, wandering across the salt flats in Bolivia, making your way to the top of Christ the Redeemer for that iconic pic of Rio de Janeiro. Taurus (20 April – 20 May)
Solid and calm Taurus. You lovely bulls are warmhearted and dependable. You like holidays where you can explore, engage and revive. For this reason, Italy is your dream destination. The laid back lifestyle of the Italians speaks to your soul and your star sign. And there’s nothing quite like wandering around a piazza in the summer moonlight, gelato in hand, nursing your pasta food baby.
