Warehouse parties, carpark raves, boat parties and club nights. Sounds like the typical events you would find hidden in the laneways of Melbourne… but actually you can find these parties throughout Sydney. Yep, that’s right, these parties are happening right under your nose and Mantra Collective have cemented themselves as one of Sydney’s finest party hosts. The underground electronic music scene is notorious is the lands of Europe and the US, but Australia has some great sh*t to offer as well. Mantra Collective have had a whole range of talent headline their parties including a label showcase from Fuse. Even better, they are all DJs in their own right and know the scene inside out.
The underground scene holds something very dear to people’s hearts, it’s a community of people huddled together spreading good vibes and keen to party. “Each and every show we aim to do things bigger and better than the last,” says Telly Maragopoulos, one of the men behind Mantra Collective.
“It’s not easy pushing underground music on a consistent basis but our following is growing and people are really in tune with what we do. At the end the day it’s uncompromising passion that sets us apart.”
The boys recently toured in Japan and Bali and now they have decided to bring their notorious parties interstate. They are heading down to Melbourne to collaborate with Lifeworld, Melbourne based group sourcing incredible talents and carefully curating great events. Not only will they be hosting a killer party, but they are also bringing two incredible international headliners. Cosmjn and Lizz are two young Romanians who have been turning heads in the northern hemisphere with their own brand of lush, deep minimal. As well as these internationals bringing their unique sounds and European party vibes, they will play alongside both Mantra and Lifeworld as well as Brock Ferrar and Jade May. The homegrown DJ’s are no strangers to such parties.
There is no denying that this Melbourne party is set to be a success. “Something that sets Mantra Collective apart is passion and quality control. We are extremely conscious of all elements that make up a party and are committed to making each element the best it can possibly be,” says Tim Reeves-Smith, another face behind Mantra.
So whether you’re a Melbournian or just happen to be around for the weekend, be prepared to party until the AM. Hosted at the recently renovated Francis28 on Friday 11 August, you can now buy your tickets for the event. It doesn’t get much better than this.
