5 Date Ideas For The Lazy Couple

Valentines Day doesn’t have to be exhausting.

Sure, it’s nice to go out for a date every now and a while, but it’s exxy and, frankly, exhausting. And when you’ve been in a relo for a while, you don’t need to spend all that energy, and money, and stress trying to wooing your boo – you’ve already got them, so it’s time to get comfy.

The honeymoon period is over, but that doesn’t mean the romance has to die. And with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, you’re obliged to crank up the romance notch – even if you can’t be bothered. But just because you’ve become the token lazy couple, doesn’t mean the romance has to die. Ditch the ‘flix and say hello to some super flirty (and super lazy) date ideas that’ll leave you feeling all kinds of loved up and feeling like you’ve barely lifted a finger.

#1 Have A Wine Tasting Night In

A romantic getaway to a luxurious villa is not only expensive but also time-consuming. You have to plan it, pay for it and then figure out how to get there – and we can’t be bothered. So, why not bring the Barossa to your lounge room? Pick out two great wines and get your partner to do the same, dust off your wine glasses and sip away (you get bonus points if you learn how to do the whole thing properly). It”s cute, low-maintenance (as long as you don’t spill a red on the carpet), it’s exciting, and who doesn’t love a good drop of Pinot after a long day.

#2 Bedroom Camping

Remember when you were a kid and you used to build forts with sheets and a couple pillows? Man, those were the days. Well, rekindle your child-like spirit with a super cute (and super cosy) indoor-camping date. Feeling peckish? UberEats to the rescue and you upgrade from indoor tent to indoor Thai restaurant. Or go out ‘hunting’ (at Woolies) and gather the supplies for some DIY stove-top camping food – ever toasted a marshmallow on a stovetop? It’s taking Netflix and Chilling to a whole new level.

#3 Double Date

As lame as it may sound, double dating is the perfect way for any lazy couple to get out of the house – and it means there are more people to carry the heavy-load of planning, and executing the social side of it. Pick a loved-up mate (maybe one in the early stages of their relationship) and let them do the rest. That doesn’t mean you abandon all support in the planning phase, give it a little effort – but don’t strain yourself. Let them pick the location, time and date, so all you and your S.O. have to do is rock up and bring the banter (and maybe some cute couples anecdotes and relationship lessons).

#4 Board Games Galore

If you’ve worked through everything on your Netflix list, and you’re stumped what to do next, wind back the clock and go old-school with some clasic board games. Scabble, Triominos, Snakes and Ladders, Go Fish, Monopoly (oop, you might want to proceed with caution with that one) – whatever you can find stashed away in the cupboard. You might actually have to go out and buy a game, but it’ll be worth it. Once you’ve got the game, stack up the snacks and bevvies. I mean, there’s something about competing that really gets sparks flying.

#5 Pamper Night

A romantic trip to a day spa is not only exxy in price but also exxy in energy – and by the time you get back home, all the relaxation you’ve paid for has disappeared. Save yourself the trouble, and DIY a pamper night – we’re talking face masks, manis, pedis, or even a massage (we know you give each other shoulder rubs anyway). Grab yourself some amazing products like Sand And Sky’s Face Masks (hello free shipping) or even sexy AF massage oil from Kama Sutra. Not only will you be left feeling great, but you get to bond and indulge, couple style.
