5 Stress-Free Hacks To Make Long-Haul Flights Actually Bearable

Travelling has its ups and downs, especially when you’re having to do long haul flights. It can take a toll on your body and totally screw with your energy levels and all-round comfort. Luckily, there’s a couple of things you can do to make your long-haul flight a more pleasant experience.

#1 A Supportive Travel Pillow

Everyone knows how hard it is to sleep on a plane. Investing in a great quality travel pillow can make a world of difference to how you fly. Whether you prefer something firmer or fluffier, there are tons of options to travel pillows. Take an extra 20 to the airport and test out some pillows to figure out which one is going to provide you the most comfort.

#2 Pre-Book Your Seats

If you’re given the option to, it’s a huge plus in your flight enjoyment if you are able to pre-book your seats. This often can be done online or when you first check in. Get in quick though, you never know who might shotgun the window seat first. Be wary that this could cost a little bit extra.

#3 Self-Care and Me-Time

If you have no shame in being watched by people who are supposedly scared of skincare, bring along your faves in your bag. Facemasks, serums, cleansers and moisturisers are ideal for keeping your skin in check and hydrated whilst you’re flying. For some extra hygiene, deodorant, hand sanitiser and baby wipes are a great addition to your flight pack. Just make sure you keep them in a Ziploc bag for customs.

#4 Back It Up

Nobody wants to be stuck on a flight with nothing to watch, read or listen to. Always make sure you bring your own in-flight entertainment. It’s ideal to spend a couple of days before your flight pre-downloading movies, TV shows and music so that you have plenty to enjoy. If you’re more of a reader, pack a couple books just in case you finish one.

#5 Comfy Clothes

You know when you see those people travelling in jeans, suits or high heels? Yeah, nah. Flying is supposed to be as comfortable as possible. Grab your comfiest tracksuit and jumper and some good supportive sneakers or slides. If you’re a little more dedicated to comfort, pack your fave pair of PJ’s in your bag…or just wear them to the airport.

Whether you’re flying 5 hours or 15, it’s essential to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. So, get comfy and enjoy hours of pure binge watching.
