5 Ways To Keep Yourself Entertained During A Layover

You’re preparing for the holiday of your dreams. You’ve booked your flight, packed your things, and confirmed your accommodation. But then it hits you, you’ve got a 7-hour layover on the way. How are you going to keep yourself entertained during it? With so many fun things to do at the airport during your layover you’ll be so entertained you won’t want to get back on that plane.

#1 Check Out The Shops And Foods On Offer

Airports are full of exciting places to kill a few hours. Airports have a lot of shops to browse and offer a range of products including alcohol, fragrances, makeup, skin care, technology and even chocolates. If you’re travelling overseas, make sure you stop by the Duty Free stores to find all sorts of goodies at discounted prices.

After you finish browsing Duty Free, stop by the restaurants. You know what they say about airline food, it’s terrible. Airport food however is a significant improvement. Why not take advantage of your layover and sample the local cuisine on offer?

#2 Read A Book

Bought a novel age’s ago and been too busy to read it? You now have hours of free time to finally read it. The bigger the novel the better. Trade in that airport scenery for an exciting fantasy world. You’ll be distracted from that boring wait for your connecting flight by being transported elsewhere through the words on the page.

#3 Chat With Strangers

Airports are full of people from all walks of life and all kinds of places. What better way to learn their story, and kill a few hours than by talking to them? You’ll learn interesting stories about them and where they’re from and get to share your stories too. And then when you get home you can tell your friends back home all about the interesting people you met along the way.

#4 People Watch

If talking to people is too intimidating, you can do some sneaky people watching instead. Make up a story for them. Where are they from? Where are they going? What’s their story? Coming up with answers to these questions is a fun way to keep yourself entertained for a few hours, plus they’re not likely to catch you with all those people passing by.

#5 Explore The City

Got free time to spare? Why not get out of the airport and explore the city? The best way to learn about a new culture is by experiencing it first-hand. Book in for a day tour, explore the city and don’t forget to take lots of pictures for your Instagram to make your friends jealous back home.
