Or if your choice of spice has started a fire for something heartier, the burgers match the beers wonderfully.

Tucked away in the tourist haven that is the Surfers Paradise Marriott, this isn’t a venue to pass up. Munch on easy fare or share the mini bites with friends, whatever you please. The bar can be a little packed on weekends but a midweek stop guarantees a spot all to yourself. It doesn’t feel like a hotel bar and that it’s biggest strength. So order an old fashioned or an espresso martini and sip away.

Down the coast a little to everyones’ favourite is certainly worth the trip to Balcony Bar. Especially on Wednesday nights where the oyster shucking amps up, offering the tasty little suckers for $1 a piece. Order a salty margarita and squeeze that lemon all over as you enjoy fresh seafood on the cheap.

What’s not to love about a Japanese bar stacked with snack options? Mamasan is a great choice for catchups or midweek bevs that shouldn’t get too rowdy – although with a little extra sake they most certainly can. Order your dumplings and sip on a authentic cocktail while you wait. Umeshu sour brings together flavoured rice wine, bitters, lemon, a little sweetness and egg white – all with a cherry on top. Burleigh’s first rooftop just turned a year old and Justin Lane has an army of dedicated visitors. Breezy rooftop vibes, a decor worth ‘gramming and a unique cocktail menu worth perusing on the reg.
