ABBA is back, baby, and they’re hoping to release new music later this year. At least that’s what one of the fab four, Benny Andersson, says.
Big-wig fan account on Twitter, ABBAtalk, posted a video of Andersson speaking to reporters about the new music. When asked where the new ABBA songs they’ve been promising us for a long time, he replied…
They’re coming.
How gloriously ominous.
😲 New #ABBA songs in September 2020? 😍 “That’s what we’re aiming for,” says Benny 🤞🏻 pic.twitter.com/LmFTBoYVJi

They’re coming this year. I’m guessing after the summer. But I can only guess, because I’m not really sure.
But he hasn’t made any promises – no matter how hard the reporter pressed (bless her heart). He did say, however, “if I were to decide myself, it would be September.”
September, folks. We might just be getting a real, real early Christmas.
But, as trustworthy as the unofficial co-king of Sweden is (I mean, would he really deceive us?), we’ve been played before. Last year, fellow member Bjorn Ulvaeus said we’d be blessed with new tunes in September / October 2019. And we’ve been waiting since.
They do have two songs recorded – ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’ – but they haven’t yet been released. And that’s an awful, awful thing of them to tease us with.
I’ll believe it when I hear it. But for now, I’m going to blast their entire music catalogue on repeat. Sorry coworkers, I’m getting hype.
