All The New Shows To Stream On Netflix This February

Another month, and another array of binge worthy shows to get your nose (and eyes) into. Boy, has February got some exciting things in store for us. From the brand new first season of The Umbrella Academy to an array of horror movies, there’s every excuse to get comfy (and cuddly) on the sofa during the month of love. January has been a hard one to top, what with the Ted Bundy Tapes and Fyre Festival Doco, but this month is set to live up to that standard.

Velvet Buzzsaw – February 1

Having watched the trailer for this art world horror, I’m feeling serious ‘Split’ vibes. Creepy, intriguing and seemingly quite plausible. A dead neighbour’s paintings quickly become the most regarded in town, after Josephine (Zawe Ashton) and Morf (Jake Gyllenhaal) resurrect them, but there’s something sinister and undisputedly creepy about them. If you’re a fan of a gory shock or five, this one’s right up your street.

Get Out – February 9

It’s horror upon horror this month, so get settled and make sure you’ve got a cushion to hide behind (or someone to cuddle up to). Get Out is coming to Netflix and I can’t wait to watch this one… again. Chris, a young African-American visits his white girlfriend’s parents for the first time. At first, he thinks the family’s OTT behaviour is compensating for their cautiousness daughter’s interracial relationship but as the weekend goes on, he finds out some bizarre and utterly terrifying truths which put his life in serious danger.

Dirty John – February 14

Based on the podcast Dirty John, this Netflix Original isn’t quite your average Valentine’s chick flick, though thrilling nonetheless. It tells the true story of how con-man (Dirty John, obviously), led businesswoman Debra Newell down a series of events using manipulation, deceit, and lies which turned out to be catastrophic for her entire family. This one portrays some of the dangers of online dating which we should all be reminded of.

The Umbrella Academy Season 1 – February 15

Featuring Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan, and Mary J. Blige, this Original is made especially for superhero enthusiasts everywhere. The Umbrella Academy brings together a band of gifted children (now adults) who reunite to save the world following their fathers’ death. With a huge cast line-up too, this series will undoubtedly have a couple’ more seasons to follow.

The Shallows – February 28

Another one for your horror marathon. Blake Lively stars in this Jaws-esque 2016 thriller featuring none other than – you guessed it – a shark and a helpless surfer. After becoming marooned on a rock with a Great White circling her, it’s a contest of survival between injured Nancy and the shark. One situation I’m sure we can agree we’d never want to be in.
