Designer Contraception Is A Thing Now Thanks To YSL Condoms

For anyone who is really THAT extra…

The world of high-end designer fashion never fails to amaze. Designers have trolled us majorly throughout the years. Lets not forget the Balenciaga vs IKEA shopping bag debacle. Or, the Prada paperclip shaped money clip?!

Anyway, now to add to the list of weird designer items, we have Saint Laurent condoms. This literally takes dressing head to toe in designer labels to the next level…  Either the marketing team at YSL is literally out of product ideas, or are super passionate about sexual health. Whichever it is, the Parisian team have officially swapped out envelope purses for dommies. Watch out, Durex!

The line of condoms are apart of YSL’s new campaign titled ‘Love Affair,’ which was debuted on creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s gram yesterday.

Now at #SaintLaurent Rive Droite

As far as price is concerned, a single condom will only set you back €2, which is roughly $2.23 AUD (honestly, not what we were expecting at all). If you’re really that extra and you want to take care of business bougie style – you will have to head to Paris to pick one up for yourself. The condoms will be sold exclusively at the new Saint Laurent concept store Rive Droite.

Believe it or not though, YSL is not the first designer brand to release a line of condoms. In 2008 Marc Jacobs released a range of condoms for $1.50 each. The condoms became a collectors item and are still traded today. (Everything about that sounds unsafe.) Since then, online companies have created unofficial condoms with branded packaging from Off White, Louis Vuitton and Chanel however these companies have denied any involvement in the production of these products. In 2018 Alexander Wang partnered with Trojan to create ‘Protect Your Wang’ branded condoms. The condoms came free with every purchase from Alexander Wang’s capsule collection, benefitting the LGBT Centre of New York, which turned out to be very successful.

With this in mind, maybe YSL really knows where it’s at. Next up, we’d like to see Gucci branded female contraceptive pills. YASSS.
