Donald Trump Actually Opposes The Alabama Abortion Laws, And That’ll Do Me

If you’re a human who uses the internet you’ve probably heard about the United States’ potential restrictions on abortion currently effecting eight states across the country.

Many seem to have an opinions about this issue, and seemingly everyone has made their position known through social media, including old mate Trump. Not going to lie, before reading his actual tweets about the current scary legislation I quivered with fear. But after reading them, I was actaully pleasantly shocked.

You know you’ve gone too far right if even Donald Trump finds your legislation unreasonable (let’s not forget the infamous pussy remarks in this discussion).

In Alabama, the state with the current most restrictive ban, abortion is potentially outlawed in cases of rape, incest, and even if giving birth could cost the mother her life – pretty insane. Any doctor caught providing an abortion could face up to 99 years in prison, and well it’s just a bit mental to be blatant.

Other states such as Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, and Ohio have initiated “heartbeat bills”, which could restrict access to abortion after six to eight weeks of pregnancy. This law would leave women with just one menstrual cycle to know if she’s pregnant. Terrifying.

It is worth noting these laws are not in effect yet, and they seem to be quite unpopular in The States. I mean seriously, even Trump is somewhat against it and that says it all, folks.

Organisations such as The ACLU and Planned Parenthood have filed lawsuits, which could leave these radical ideas put on hold for quite some time. Hundreds of protesters even ran rampant through Alabama this past Sunday.

As abortion become a big topic because of the happenings in the United States, it is worth noting Australian laws on abortion. FYI these are more worrying than you might think in a country like ours.

Depending on which state you’re in, the laws of accessibility to abortion are subject to change. But there are some seriously questionable ideas and rulings in there, in a discussion that’s sure to split a lot of people for many years to come.
