Double J Are Playing Hottest 100 Of 1998 In January & There Are Some Absolute Bangers

Triple J announced the details of this year’s Hottest 100 yesterday, along with the revelation that 1998’s edition will be played on Double J the next day (Monday 28th January). This is along with the 200-101 countdown on Triple J, so unfortunately, you’ll have to choose between the two.

This follows a slowly developing tradition of playing the 90’s Hottest 100’s, and we hope it’s set to continue ’cause these songs are our childhood jams. Having a sneak preview of the 1998 100, there are some huge tunes to get you through your Monday.

The Offspring’s Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) topped the Hottest 100 of 1998 and following them was Powderfinger, You Am I, The Living End and so many more. Oh, the nostalgia.

Garbage, Grinspoon, Jebediah, The Living End, Pearl Jam and The Whitlams all managed to score three songs in the countdown. Midnight Oil also feature along with Blink 182, U2, Pearl Jam, and Barenaked Ladies. It’s set to be a bloody great few hours, let me tell you. Warm up those vocal cords, folks.

Here’s a glimpse of the top ten. But check out the playlist on Spotify below if you’re too impatient to wait.
