Halsey’s BBMA Performance Of ‘Without Me’ Depicted A Toxic Relationship

The Billboard Music Awards are underway in the US today and we’re hearing news that Halsey has absolutely slayed the stage. Honestly, I expect nothing less from the diva. Ever since that Like a Version cover of Death Cab For Cutie’s I Will Follow You Into The Dark, I’ve had goosebumps and a forever mounting love for the girl.

At the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas, Halsey treated the audience to an emotional performance of Without Me and fans are all losing their shit over it. Frankly, so am I.

Rocking a red leather jumpsuit, she was soon accompanied by a female back-up dancer in a similar grey get-up – representing what’s thought to be a previous partner. At first the two exchange loving looks whilst Halsey belts out the first few pars of the track, “Feeling so high but too far away to hold me”. They each interlock hands until Halsey dramatically pulls away, only to draw her in closer.

It’s a fierce and emotive interchange between love and conflict; the kind of elements that render a relationship toxic yet difficult to leave behind. The finale of her performance had Halsey flexing the most empowering pose and her body language is everything. This girl is an embodiment of strength and our hearts grow fonder for her.
