We all go through periods of time where life feels a little too hard to handle. You can’t remember the last time you had a full eight hours of sleep or the last time you made your bed in the morning. Once you get into a cycle of bad habits, its difficult to break out of it. But if you make these few easy adjustments to your life, you can be back on the way to Slayyyy Town in no time, with these healthy habits.
#1 Stop Using Your Phone In Bed
If you’re like me, scrolling through your socials is the last thing you do at night before you go to sleep and the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning. This is a super bad habit because it stimulates your brain, suppresses melatonin and basically just makes it more difficult to have a good night sleep. And using you phone first thing in the morning just makes it extremely hard to get out of bed. I would recommend investing in an old school alarm clock and leaving your phone in another room.
#2 Cull Your Wardrobe
Dedicate a day to get rid of all your unwanted clothes. This is such an easy way to feel more organised and less cluttered. If your surroundings are cluttered, your mind will feel cluttered too. You can also sell the items that you don’t want, and make a lil pocket money.
#3 Budgetting
Being smart with your money is important. I make up a weekly budget in an Excel spreadsheet, using the 50/30/20 rule and try to stick to it. You will be so surprised at how much money you can save just by having a plan. Organisation is magical.
#4 Stop Hitting Snooze
According to science, hitting the snooze button repeatedly actually makes you feel more tired. In order to feel the most refreshed and like you’ve had the best night sleep, you have to get up as soon as your alarm goes off. Put your alarm on the other side of the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off.
#5 Make A Cleaning Schedule
When your house / room / car / desk gets crazy messy, it becomes overwhelming and we don’t know where to start, so we just leave it and let it build up. Don’t let that happen! Create a cleaning schedule that works for you and stick to it!
#6 Read More
Read before bed instead of going on your phone. Reading improves your conversational skills, helps you to unwind and honestly is just freaking awesome. Knowledge is power, kids.
#7 Do Your Most Important / Hardest Thing First
Whether this be with Uni, work or just daily tasks. Always do the hardest thing first. This is known as ‘eating the frog‘ and came to fruition via Brian Tracy’s book of the same title. He’s a motivational speaker, author and full time legend – you should trust him!
#8 Unsubscribe From Emails
Declutter your inbox aka declutter your life. If you’re not receiving a thousand spam emails a day, you’re less likely to miss important emails. You will also feel happier about checking your inbox.
#9 Water Bottle
Water is magic juice. It’s literally amazing for your skin, your brain, your body. Yet for some reason we’re not drinking enough of it? This is the most simple way to improve your life. Just buy a freaking water bottle and take it with you everywhere you go.
#10 Prepare For The Next Day The Night Before
Clean up your space, plan out your outfit, make your lunch, get the things you need ready and do any last minute tasks that need to be done the night before. That way you won’t be running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off in the morning. You’ll wake up feeling productive, organised and ready to take on the day.
#11 Take The Stairs
This is such an easy way to get in a little bit of excersise each day. Walk to work if you can. It’s all about the little things you can do, that add up and make a real difference over time.
Here are some more productivity tips, if you’re on a roll.
