The Hottest Destinations For The Perfect Spring Getaway

Sign me up asap.

The end of winter is near people. For most of us, winter is a time of year in which we recluse to our rooms, hidden under blankets, suffering red eyes from inevitable Netflix binges. Well, with spring on its way in, it’s time to emerge from your cocoons and get thinking about where you can head on those two weeks of annual leave you’ve been saving up.

Long haul journeys to the other side of the equator might be out of the question, but trust me; there are plenty of destinations in the southern hemisphere waiting to be explored. So get your spring getaway sorted, ASAP.

#1 Cape Town, South Africa

Certainly one of the most picturesque locations in the world, Cape Town holds it all, spectacular nature, amazing food, killer wineries and not to forget, PENGUINS! The Cape is spectacular to visit in the spring, with all of the amazing flowers blooming to bring the city to peak vibrancy. No stop overs needed to get to this location, you can fly direct from most cities in Oz, to ensure for maximum holiday time.

Be sure to stay in the centre of the city in order to enjoy easy access to an array of amazing bars and restaurants. Be sure to take a tour of the Cape, visit penguin beach, head to a winery/food market and of course, conquer the Table Mountain. Your Instagram feed will thank you.

#2 Valparaiso, Chile

Spring is the perfect time of year to take advantage of the lengthening days and beautiful coastline, so what better place to soak it all up than among one of the longest coastlines in the world. Valparaiso is filled with vibrancy, culture and spectacular views. It’s absolutely renowned for its bohemian nature, making it the perfect place to sit back, chill and take in all the good vibes.

Be sure to take a street art tour in order to embrace the unique architecture and city scape and finish off with a climb up Cerro Conception to soak up the gorgeous ocean views. And seafood, eat all of the seafood.

#3 Sumatra, Indonesia

TLC told us not to chase waterfalls, but that’s surely impossible in the picturesque island of Sumatra. Compared to its Balinese neighbour, Sumatra is still fairly quiet and tourist limited in many areas, making it the perfect escape from the big city life.

Sumatra boasts spectacular beaches and orangutan filled jungles, and is sure to bring out the adventurer in anyone. Expect a little rain during the spring, but don’t be deterred as temperatures are still in the high 20 degrees. All round, the perfect spring trip for the budget traveller.

#4 Alice Springs, Australia

If you have been talking about that Aussie desert trip with your mates for months now, well spring is the perfect time to book. Mild temperatures make it the perfect adventure weather, and tours are running hot until the end of September. Embrace the culture and history of the First Nations people and be ready to embark on a spiritual journey like no other.

Sure, this trip may be a little steep financially, but you’ll be jet lag free, without the hassle of having to leave the country. A sunset Uluru visit is a no brainer if you’re heading out here.
