Lady Gaga Opens Up About Her Fake Romance With Bradley Cooper And Her History With Sexual Assault

She reveals all to Oprah, because honestly, who else would you tell your secrets to?

Remember last year when everyone was ready to bet their lives on the fact that Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were having an affair because they looked so deeply in love during their Oscars performance of Shallow? Well in an ELLE US article published yesterday, Gaga told Oprah of all people, “We mapped the whole thing out—it was orchestrated as a performance.”

UMMM what will the people of Hollywood NOT do for publicity? Is anything celebs do these days real??

Lady Gaga And Bradley Cooper Wanted To Give The Impression That They Were In Love

Their Academy Awards performance of A Star Is Born‘s ‘Shallow’ in February this year sparked some wild media reports that the two were having an affair. I mean, you’d have to be blind to not see the chemistry at that piano. At the time, Bradley Cooper was dating Irina Shayk but split from her a few months later. Gaga had also just broken up with fiancé Christian Carino that month. Sooo, with all of that, mixed in with sources reporting that the two had an “instant connection,” and that Gaga thought Cooper was, “the one,” it’s fair to assume romance was in the air.

HOWEVER, in ELLE’s December issue Lady Gaga addresses these media reports. She tells Oprah, “Quite frankly, I think the press is very silly. I mean, we made a love story.” (All I’m really hearing is, we made a story to get publicity.)

She goes on to say, “For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course we wanted people to believe that we were in love. And we wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars.”

And concocting this big fake romance wasn’t easy either. Gaga further says, “We worked hard on it, we worked for days.”

Is anyone else feeling super disappointed and a little bit cheated right now??

At least Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are happy with their fake romance – apparently after media reports came out they said to each other, “Well, I guess we did a good job!”

And That’s Not The Only Bomb She Has Dropped

Later in the interview Lady Gaga goes on to tell Oprah that she connected with the character of Ally in A Star Is Born on a deeply personal level. The film dealt with some serious themes, including problems with consent. Gaga says, “Ally stayed with me for a long time. I had to relive a lot of my career doing that role.”

She tells Oprah that when she see’s her Oscar she sees “pain,” admitting,

“I was raped when I was 19 years-old, repeatedly.”

She goes on to say,“I have been traumatized in a variety of ways by my career over the years from many different things, but I survived, and I’ve kept going.”

Was not expecting that at all, but it’s honestly just very honourable of Lady Gaga to share her story. Hopefully her speaking out will inspire other people to not let pain and adversity get in their way of reaching their dreams, (or Oscars.)

People around the world have been inspired and touched by her strength and bravery.

You go, Gaga! She slays once again.
