Mayor Clover Moore’s Plans Might Bring Sydney Nightlife Back From The Dead

Clover Moore, bless her heart, has big plans to revive Sydney back to its ‘golden-age’ of nightlife with new plans potentially coming into play. Clover Moore brought forth a draft to revive Sydney’s dead nightlife years after Bairdy’s fucked-up lockout laws.

With plans to create an ‘after-dark’ economy, Moore put forth a proposal for 24 hour trading. “…They do not want a city that shuts down as soon as the sun goes down,” Moore said. Moore’s proposal plans to allow businesses and shops to open way later, some till 2am, other 24 hours.

Currently Kings Cross and Oxford Street are the only areas that do, but this would expand it to Darling Harbour, George St, Barangaroo and Zetland. Crown St, Redfern St and Glebe point would have hours extended from 12 to 2.

Not only is Clover Moore wanting late-trading, but is also proposing a culture, entertainment and arts warehouse area in Alexandria, which extend opening hours and have live music, art and entertainment.

“They respond to the very strong demand for a thriving, late-night city and set the foundations for a truly 24-hour Sydney into the future.” Moore took a dig at Baird’s lockout laws saying they had been a “sledgehammer blow to our economy and night-time trading when what we needed were carefully considered and evidence-based policies”.

More power to the young people and huge ups for Clover Moore. What a legend!
