Messina has left us falling in love for the past 17 years, with gelato and sorbet seemingly descending straight from the heavens. They offer weekly specials which switch around all the time. And, if you’ve been a bit of a Messina regular you know the struggle of falling in love with a special only to never know when you’ll meet again. And it’s absolutely heart wrenching.
However, Messina recognises your pain. So for one weekend only, they’re offering their top 40 flavours. And you’ll hopefully be able to reunite with your lost love.
Coming to Melbourne’s Fitzroy and Sydney’s Rosebery store fronts, this sweet deal is on from Saturday 27 July to Sunday 28 July. So, mark your calendars. And if you’re looking for a certain favourite, Messina is taking suggestions via Facebook. Don’t let the one slip through the cracks.
For their Greatest Hit’s weekend special, you should expect zero of the classics and only specials. There’s no time for plain ol’ ice cream, not that Messina offers anything less than the best in any realm. And considering Messina has dished out around 4,000 flavours in their time, you know their top 40 specials are going to be pure magic.
While their full line-up has yet to be released, they’ve given us some teasers in to what we can all expect. Yes, this is The Splendour in The Grass of gelato, and I’m living for it. Currently in the ranks is Jon Snow (White chocolate gelato with peanut caramel crunch and chocolate fudge), Fairy Bread (Toast and butter gelato with 100’s & 1000’s crunch), Robert Brownie Jnr. (milk chocolate gelato, chocolate brownie and chocolate fudge sauce), Montgomery’s Gold Mine (chocolate gelato with gold-chocolate-covered honeycomb) and Red Wedding (cream cheese gelato with red velvet cake).

You certainly won’t want to miss this, so full disclosure: you won’t be able to reach this special on Deliveroo. And once the specials are sold out, there won’t be more. So run to Messina as early as possible.
Your weekend avo smash can be put on hold. It’s gelato for breakfast time, and I’m not complaining.
