Not all heroes wear capes, but Qantas has proven that flying’s a pretty important trait.
Our one and only flying kangaroo has swooped in to save us from the winter blues just in time. They’ll be announcing two new routes out of Brisbane direct to two cities in the United States.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Yeah, and it’s a miracle.
The airline will be launching direct services from Brissy to San Francisco and Chicago, which is the first flight of its kind from any Australian city to Chi-town. How good is that? These flights add to Sydney and Melbourne’s direct flights to San Fran and the daily flights to Los Angeles which connect to New York.
(every Instagram feed demands an obligatory Golden Gate travel photo, now you can get yours)
You’ll soon be able to jump aboard one of Qantas’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners – those used for non-stop hauls from Perth to London – pending full approval of a new deal with American Airlines. The direct route would allow you travel-bugs to take advantage of their connections to 143 destinations (ooh nice).
(the most aesthetic warped mirror you’ll ever take a selfie in)
I’ve got some good and some bad news or you keen travellers. The minute the deal gets the green light, Qantas is expected to begin selling tickets right away. But flights will begin early next year. So you’ll have to deal with connecting flights for the rest of this year.
It’s time to start planning your 2020 escape.
Or, if you’re desperate for an escape pronto, check out the best destinations for your star sign (my Taurus selection sounds pretty good).
