She just can’t stay out of the news can she, old Carole Baskin. And we all know these days that if you live by the memes, you’ll die by the memes. And that’s exactly what’s happen to the owner of Big Cat Rescue, who’s become the latest victim of Cameo trolling.
If you’re not up to speed on Cameo, basically it’s a place where B, C and even D grade celebs get paid to do short, shout out videos to certain people, groups, events and businesses. So really it’s a breeding ground for meme-lords, and your favourite bitch was the latest target (even though she is apparently making a killing from the platform).
In the video, Carole does her usual cats and kittens routine as an intro – and goes on to say hey Rolf Harris! And you’re just thinking oh, Carole…
Rolf Harris was of course an Australian singer/songwriter and general TV personality throughout the 90s and early 2000s mainly. Harris was convicted in 2014 of the sexual assault of four underage girls, and was sent to jail subsequently that same year at 84. He’s since been released, after serving three years – but has been stripped of basically all of his honours, and is generally referenced as a sex predator these days.
Obviously super unaware of the whole situation with old mate Rolf, Baskins goes on to say how “all of the kids want to get together and tell you that you’ve really touched them..” and I’M CRYING!

And the cringe just gets worse as the 26-second video goes on, with the Tiger King star even mentioning how Rolf and his best mate Jimmy Saville must have some great stories together.
“I hear there’s a lot of great stories about you and your best friend, Jimmy Savile” she says.
Baskin then goes on to say that she “can’t wait to hear those (stories)”, in an uber-sleazy, odd tone.
Savile was largely rumoured to be involved with sexual abuse and predatory behaviour himself, and it was known that both he and Rolf Harris were good friends. I honestly get shivers just writing and thinking about this whole thing.
As you can imagine Twitter had a field day.

Carole did eventually learn about the real identity of Rolf Harris, and wasn’t too happy about it. But alas, we live in a meme world and I doubt this is the last Cameo troll we’ll see.
