Sydney’s annual Film Festival is back this June with an impressive lineup set to dazzle audiences. Grab your popcorn, folks, because from Wednesday 5 – Saturday 16 June, you can plonk yourself down in front of new festival faves, award-winners, comedies, horrors and everything in between. The festival has just announced the first few films showing, and we’re giving you a little taste.
Andre 3000 and Robert Pattinson are taking sexy to space in High Life. The A24 film directed by French genius Claire Denis centres around criminals who are deceived after taking part in a space mission to find an alternate energy source. From sexual experimentation to black hole physics, the film explores a variety of sci-fi twists and turns set to leave you thrilled.
Or if you’re more suited to an action drama, British star Dev Patel stars in The Wedding Guest directed by Michael Winterbottom. The film follows Jay (Patel), who travels to Pakistan to attend a wedding. Armed with weapons for a robbery and planning to kidnap the bride, Jay has a little more in mind than just being the wedding guest.
If those films aren’t up your alley, the festival has more than just Hollywood blockbusters.
