Sex In The City Is Getting A Follow-Up TV Show

Sex in the City fans: the follow-up season you’ve been waiting for since 2004 is on its way. Although, we’ve already been graced with a couple movies and The Carrie Diaries since then, we’re obvs ready for more.

The show will be based on Candace Bushnell’s latest book, Is There Still Sex In The City (which debuts in August). And although it hasn’t even hit the stands yet, it’s reportedly already been picked up by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content to develop a series. And Bushnell will be the executive producer on the set and is currently writing the pilot for the season’s debut.

Seriously, the fact that Sex in the City coming out with another season is probs one of the most exciting moments of my adult life. However, fans should know filming deff hasn’t started yet. So there’s a chance it’ll be a hot second before it actually hits your screens. But just know it’s in the works.

Also, I do hate to break it to you, but the new series doesn’t follow the lives of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha. Although, I think we can all assume that Big’s got his shit together by now (hopefully). Charlotte’s kids are totally like the super genius, over-achievers in school. Samantha is living her best and most glamorous life. And Miranda, Steve, and Brady are still one happy family.

Bushnell took to Instagram to share her excitement about her ninth book release. From the sounds of it, the author has been through quite a bit in the past years. However, she touts this book being a “major triumph” for her. Considering Sex in the City’s success, this is probably going to be pretty damn good.

This is a very very special post for me. I’m thrilled to present to you the gorgeous hardcover of my new and ninth (!) novel Is There Still Sex and the City? In many ways this book is a triumph for me: In the three years it took to write I endured a lot of emotional pain. There was the fallout of my divorce, I moved, my father died and my best friend took her life. There were times when I wondered what I was doing and why, when I questioned what was the point of it all. When I questioned what was the point of me? Sometimes the only way I could continue was by pretending I was an anthropologist from another planet determined to record the goings on of these crazy creatures called humans. And miraculously what I didn’t lose was my greatest blessing: My sense of humor. This ability to laugh in the face of pain and sorrow and uncertainty is what I bring to you in Is There Still Sex in the City. Every novel is a culmination of what one has learned in life, but Is There Still Sex is especially so. I hope you’ll love this book as much as I do! @groveatlantic @amazonbooks #books #summer #writersofinstagram #candacebushnell #istherestillsex #istherestillsexinthecity #sexandthecity preorder link in bio

The new book features a different group of gal pals in Manhattan—Sassy, Kitty, Queenie, Tilda Tia, Marilyn, and Candace. However, another huge difference between this and the OG show is it will also take place in the countryside of New York as well. Shook, I know.

The plot will reflect women in their 50’s navigating through love, friendships, and work. Needless to say, I cannot wait for it.
