Shh, We’re Getting A Quiet Place Sequel

Shush, they’ll hear you.

*warning: there are spoilers from A Quiet Place in this article.*

I don’t like horror movies. I’ve never for the life of me been able to understand why someone would purposely put themselves through something distressing. I just hate being uncomfortable.

I went to a Halloween movie gatho last year, and of course we had to watch creepy shit like A Quiet Place. It was the first horror movie I watched in years, and yeah I definitely screamed a couple of times. And also cried, because WTF it was so sweet and emotional and devastating too? Truly a work of art. Turns out, I actually loved it.  Even my horror-averse self could appreciate it – I actually wanted to watch it again.

So, even I’m excited to know that there’s going to be A Quiet Place 2! John Krasinski announced it on his Twitter, and the mystery is killing us!

Cryptic tweet and all, the A Quiet Place team has been pretty quiet about what the film is going to be about.

We know John Krasinski is directing, and Emily Blunt (yas mama) is returning to the film. Their TV kids Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe will also be in the movie. However, they’ve kept their plot pretty silent.

Millicent Simmonds (she plays the daughter) told EW that she could see the movie going in three directions – either the past, present, or future.

It could be super interesting to get the alien take over back story, but Emily Blunt talked about how invested audiences have became in the Abbott family. Maybe they’re considering furthering their story line?

Me, crying when Daddy Abbott dies.

A Quiet Place had a powerful yet open ending, and there’s definitely room to explore the aftermath. Daddy Abbott dies, which honestly destroyed me, and Mama Abbott has a new baby. The daughter is struggling with guilt and her complex relationship with her father, and now she has to step up into the role of the new adult in the house.

It’s unlike John Krasinski’s style to do a prequel – he’s mentioned before that he wasn’t interested in making another movie. The fact that he’s changed his mind means he’s probs got something real special up his sleeve. I reckon it’ll be all about building and developing the cinematic universe of the Abbott family, and exploring the world in more detail.  Either way – we are keen.

The movie is set to release on March 20, 2020.
