The American Music Awards were held today in Los Angeles and Taylor Swift was honoured as ‘Artist Of The Decade.’ She also took home wins in the categories of ‘Favorite Album — Pop/Rock’, ‘Favorite Music Video’, ‘Favorite Female Artist — Pop/Rock’, ‘Favorite Artist — Adult Contemporary’ and ‘Artist of the Year.’
Her wins today took her to an impressive total of 28 all-time AMA wins, overtaking Michael Jackson’s 24, which was the previous record. She was presented her award by Carol King and gave an impressive and heartfelt acceptance speech. She gushed over her fans, saying,
Guys … we’ve had fun incredible, exhilarating, extraordinary times together. And may it continue. Thank you for being the reason why I am on this stage, from the very first day of my career until tonight. I love you with all of my heart. Thank you for everything. Thank you AMAs. Thank you … just thank you. I’m so lucky to get to do this.
Swift performed a few numbers and everything was dandy. I really am happy for her and there’s no question that she’s prolific, talented and hardworking, but to give her the title of the most awarded artist in AMA music history, seems a little off. Maybe it’s just our aversion to ‘bubblegum pop,’ but I would hardly say break-up singer T-Swift, deserves more awards than a music king like Michael Jackson?
Anyway, it’s a good day to be a T-Swift fan and a bad day to be fan of anyone else really.
