The Best Places To Experience An Epic Oktoberfest Around The World

We all love an excuse to party and Oktoberfest is one of the highlights of the year. Whether you’re stuck at home or travelling, I’ve found some of the best spots to go with your mates for the big festival. Just don’t forget to grab yourself a class A outfit to really get in the Bavarian spirit. Prost!

Munich, Germany

If beer, pretzels, and bratwurst are some of your favourite things, then you can’t not experience Oktoberfest in its’ hometown and all its’ glory. Pictures won’t even do it justice, you have to be there to get the real experience! Over 7 million people visit per year with almost 7 million litres of beer and 140,000 litres of wine drunk. I mean, if that doesn’t make you want to go, along with some hectic authentic German eats, then I don’t know what will.

Fredericksburg, Texas

Home to heaps of Texan-Germans who settled in the mid 19th Century, this small city goes big when it comes to the annual celebration. Plenty of pretzels and bratwurst, but also an influence of the South including gumbo and other mean eats. I mean, it’s America so the food is going to be epic. They also have a heap of both German and International beers, so whatever floats ya’ boat. The Americans certainly never do any half heartedly so expect big things.

Blumenau, Brazil

With the title of biggest German Festival in South America (and the second biggest Oktoberfest after Munich), you can party Brazilian style knowing you’ll have an amazing time. The city is known as Little Germany to the locals so holds a heap of German authenticity with a Brazilian flare. If you’re thinking parades, lots of music and of course beer, then you’re heading in the right direction.

Brisbane, Australia

If you’re looking for somewhere a bit closer to home, then look no further. Home to the largest Oktoberfest in Australia, 30,000 of you turn up over two weekend for a drink and dance filled time. Activities are split up into the day and evening, so if you’re looking to party hard, head to a night sesh. They even do steins with coolers to keep your beer (which is specially brewed for the festival) protected from the Brissy sun! And if you’re elsewhere in Aus, check out festivals happening in your city.

Dublin, Ireland

The Irish know a thing or two about beer. In September, they trade the Guinness for the Bavarian brews for a 3 week long celebration. And the Irish can undoubtedly drink the majority of us under the table, so practice your beer drinking to save any embarrassment when you go.

Don your Dirndl or Lederhosen and get those steins down ya’.
