The #MetGalaChallenge Is Here, And Here Are The Best Iso-Entries So Far

It’s a lewk, darling.

As with most public group events this year, the 2020 Met Gala has been postponed. Due to be held on Monday 4 May (US time), the annual star-studded event has sadly been one of the latest events to feel the effects of coronavirus.

Past years have featured celebrities absolutely SLAYING in their outfits, and Kanye even smiled one time(!), but we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the 2020 Gala. Don’t despair though, because the #MetGalaChallenge is here to lift your spirits – now you can join in on the fashion!

Announced on Vogue.com last week, Vogue and Billy Porter are inviting fashion fans everywhere to recreate their favourite red carpet looks from previous Met Galas. To cope with iso boredom, fans are encouraged to create their looks from their homes using whatever materials they want, with Vogue saying “which ensemble you replicate, and what you use to make it, is entirely up to you—think outside of the box”.

With this year’s annual #MetGala (normally held on the First Monday in May) postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are mourning what is typically one of the glitziest red carpet events of the year. The star-studded affair was supposed to be held on May 4 this year and in the past, it has produced some iconic red carpet looks. For those still craving the glamour and extravagance that usually comes with the night, however, we are teaming up with @theebillyporter on a new Instagram challenge that pays tribute to the night’s peacocking spirit: Meet the #MetGalaChallenge. The task is simple: recreate your favorite red carpet look from a past #MetGala at home. Which ensemble you replicate, and what you use to make it, is entirely up to you—think outside of the box! If you’re going to enter, be quick! You only have until May 3 (US time) to post your looks to Instagram using the hashtag #MetGalaChallenge. After this, Billy Porter and Vogue will select their winners and make their announcement on May 4, with a selection of favourites to be posted to the official Vogue Instagram account.

The #MetGalaChallenge So Far…

While we wait in iso for the winners to be chosen, here are some of our favourite recreations so far.

While these looks so far have been incredible (I sure as fuck couldn’t pull these off), I know who my winner would be.
