Yes, your teenage dreams are coming true – a new Harry Potter instalment is on it’s way. Apparently. Warner Bros are rumoured to be adapting the stage show ‘Harry Potter and The Cursed Child’ into a a screenplay, with the original cast. The story follows the children of the OG wizards, who also go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While nothing is confirmed just yet – we are already DYING of excitement. To catch you up; here’s what the cast have been up to since the last film was released in 2011.
The star of the show Daniel Radcliffe is now 30-years-old (feel old yet?). He was pretty sought after in Hollywood after the Harry Potter series ended and burst onto the scene with films such as 2012 horror flick The Woman In Black and 2013 indie rom-com What If? He has also starred in Now You See Me 2, Swiss Army Man and critically acclaimed indie Imperium in 2016.
Daniel has also worked across two Broadway plays and made several different theatre appearances. This year he has been working on comedy TV series Miracle Workers.
Since 2013, Raddy has been dating Kill Your Darlings co-star Erin Darke, who is five years older than him (go boy). They apparently started falling for each other after a sex scene between their two characters in the film, yep saucy saucy. Not much about their relationship has been broadcasted, but they seem super happy together – goals!
Since Deathly Hallows – Part 2, Emma Watson, now 29, has been prolific in her acting and philanthropic work. She has worked across films such as indie-flick The Perks Of Being A Wallflower in 2012, Sophia Coppola’s Teen True Crime film Bling Ring in 2014 and The Beauty and The Beast remake in 2017. She also features in the screen adaptation of classic novel Little Women, which will be released in December this year.
While being a high profile movie pro, Emma also graduated from Brown University with an English Literature degree in 2014 (yasss girl). While she was there, she dated two fellow students – at different times, obvs. She has also dated fellow Harry Potter actor Roberto Aguire, Glee star Chord Overstreet and is apparently dating tech CEO Brendan Wallace at the moment.
Emma is also a huge feminist icon as we know, who was appointed as a UN Women Goodwill ambassador in 2014. She has launched a feminist book club and a support hotline for victims of sexual assault at work. Much like her character Hermione – Emma Watson is just an all-round girl boss.
Following his departure from the wizard world, Rupert Grint, now 31, hasn’t had a career quite as exciting as his co-stars. In a super recent interview Rupert said he “struggle(s) to remember life before it (Harry Potter). I think I lost myself a bit along the way,” (I’m not crying, you are..)
He has been involved in various different charities though, such as support for hospice care, Cancer Research UK, and an initiative to drink milk daily – random, but hey you do you Rups.
Other than his awesome feature in the music video for Ed Sheeran’s Lego House in 2011, Rupert has since had a few small roles in films such as Cross of Honour and has starred in TV series Sick Note and Snatch from 2017.
Rupert has been dating Angus Thong’s And Perfect Snogging Actress, Georgia Groome, since 2011 – my inner tween is so excited right now. The couple was rumoured to be engaged earlier this year, but have denied all reports.
Bonnie Wright who plays Jenny Weasley is now an environmental activist and has worked with Greenpeace and Coca-Cola to end plastic pollution.
Maggie Smith aka Professor McGonagall went on to star in Downton Abbey as the super sassy Lady Violet Crawley.
Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton produced his own Harry Potter documentary in 2015, interviewing super-fans. He has also released several EPs.
Alan Rickman who played Severus Snape sadly died in 2016, but is so fondly remembered.
Neville Longbottom, played by Mathew Lewis, not only got HOT but also got married and got an arts degree from Leeds University. Slay son!
