They Are Remaking High School Musical For Disney+ And I’m Mad About It

Why would you want to remake perfection????

Disney+’s Australian launch is a week away and I’ve just discovered some unsettling news. The new streaming service will feature a selection of old Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars classics, as well as new Disney+ originals.

One of those Disney+ originals is a series called High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which as it’s very long name suggests, is a remake of HSM. HOW COULD THEY REMAKE HSM?!???

Take a look at who they have replaced Zac Efron and V Hudge with!

I am outraged. In good news though, Troy and Gabriella are no longer characters and there is a whole new plot. Let me explain…

What Is It All About?

According to Disney+,

“From creator and executive producer Tim Federle (‘Ferdinand’), High School Musical: The Musical: The Series follows the East High drama club as they work their way to opening night of their school’s first-ever production of High School Musical. Show-mances blossom, old friendships are tested while new ones are made, rivalries flare, and lives are changed forever as these students discover the transformative power that only high school theater can provide.”

So basically,

“The new student body includes Ricky (Joshua Bassett), a charismatic teen auditioning for the musical so he can win back the heart of ex-girlfriend Nini (Olivia Rodrigo), who has just returned from summer theater camp with a new boyfriend—and the same old insecurities that keep her from owning the spotlight.”

It sounds very Troy and Gabriella, but honestly why would they want to remake perfection? Also get this – every episode will feature a new rendition of an OG HSM song. Why the heck would I want to hear ‘We’re All In This Together’ sung by anyone other than Zac Efron??

I’m Not The Only One Who’s Mad

Other people who grew up with HSM are furious about the idea of a shitty remake. Have a look at what other people have been saying…

(I knew the name memes would be coming LOL.)

Some People Gave It A Chance And Loved It

People are out here convincing me to watch it, saying it’s actually really good. The audacity!

I WILL NOT BE CONVINCED! I don’t care how damn good it is, it’s just wrong. So wrong.

Anyway, check out the trailer for yourself, below.
