This Sweet Boy Dropped His Pet Puppy At A Shelter To Protect It From Abuse, My HEART.

Honestly, just rip my heart out next time.

Not all heroes wear capes, but they all make huge sacrifices. None perhaps more than a young boy who left his pet puppy at an animal shelter to save it from abuse.

The shelter, named Xollin, is located in the Mexican state of Micoacan. They shared images of the good, good, previous four-legged friend peeking out of the box he was found in.

The pup was found a week ago with a heartbreaking note and stuffed toy that his 12 year old former owner, Andrés left.

“My name is Andrés and I am 12 years old,” the note reads.

“My mum and I decided to leave my dog in your hands, hiding it from my dad because he is thinking about selling him. But he mistreats and kicks him. One day he kicked him so hard that he hurt his tail.”

“I hope you can help and take care of him,” he continues.

“I left him a stuffed animal so he won’t forget me.”

There’s something in my eye. Oh, right, my feelings.

The photo was shared on Facebook and quickly gained attention, with many users touched by the dog’s story and the young boy’s gesture.

“How I wish this little boy could know his baby is safe now and how brave and generous of him to think of the puppy first,” one user replied.

“I wish I could hug this little boy.”

Many commenters have also expressed concern for the boy and his mother. But, the good news is that though the Xollin team doesn’t know the dog’s original home, they are “trying to locate it through the neighbours”.

According to the shelter, the dog (now named Rene) has received more than 300 requests for adoption. So many requests that the shelter had to remind them of the 120 other animals waiting to find forever homes.

Surly one out of the 300 applicants are a loving home more than capable of looking after Rene. If not, he’s more than welcome to live in Australia – do you think they’ll do international adoption?

Whatever it is, it’s a sweet story but, nonetheless so heartbreaking that the little boy had to do it.
