Tom Hanks Telling Us He Got Coronavirus Via Instagram Caption Is Peak 2020

The apocalypse is coming, one social media post at a time.

Only in 2020 would a celebrity, let alone Tom Hanks, announce their contraction of a potentially deadly coronavirus via a photo on Instagram. And that photo  being a glove in a biohazard bin. It’s been a rough few weeks.

Well actually, it’s been a rough 2020. From fires to floods to a full-blown global pandemic, it really feels like the apocalypse.

Twitter went into meltdown today when it was announced that Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have both contracted coronavirus in our very own Gold Coast, but all travel from Europe to America is banned, the NBA is cancelled and Harvey Weinstein got sentenced to prison all in the same few hours.

In tragic headlines that literally none of us expected, not only has Tom Hanks contracted coronavirus in our own country, but he literally put up an Instagram post to announce it.

Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive. Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves! Hanx!

Honestly, I respect how chill he’s being about the whole thing – no hysteria, no irrational hyping. Just calmly stating that he’s got the virus, that he’s following protocol and just waiting for information, which is all you can do. Now that’s the vibe we want in 2020.
