It was recently announced that 27-year-old cutie Austin Butler would be playing Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s new Elvis biopic and ever since, the internet has been questioning who will be playing Pricilla. While it was the widespread opinion that vintage queen, Lana Del Ray should be cast as Pricilla, unfortunately, the singer was too old.
Pricilla was only 14 when her relationship with Elvis began. Hence, it is a lot more fitting for 21 year old Olivia DeJonge to take on the role. Nevertheless, the internet still believes it should have been Lana.

Apparently even Pricilla herself wanted to be played by Lana.

But Olivia DeJonge is much more suited to playing a 14-year-old and Baz Luhrmann is very happy with his casting decisions. He has said, “Olivia is capable of manifesting the complex depth and presence that has made Priscilla Presley an icon in her own right. She’s an extremely talented young actor and the perfect counterpoint to Austin’s Elvis.”
Olivia is known for her role in Netflix’s teen drama, The Society. She may not be a lead, but the ballet-dancer is one of the show’s most compelling characters.
The Australian actress is friends with Looking For Alaska star, Kristine Froseth, who also starred in The Society. I think we have found Hollywood’s new hottest besties!

The movie is shaping up to be a huge one, with Tom Hanks also lined up to play Elvis’s talent manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The film will focus on Elvis’s rise to fame under his controlling manager and his relationship with Pricilla. Filming has began in Queensland and the release date is yet to be confirmed.
If you can’t wait for Luhrmann’s biopic, check out the old film Jail House Rock, which is very loosely based on Elvis’s own life and his relationship with his manager. And best of all, it stars the King of Rock himself.
