In our brand new segment Who’s This? we speak to and feature artists you’re bound to hear on Triple j unearthed, playing a small gig in your city or generally on the rise. Recently we chatted to Sydney DJ Sarabi (aka Emma Coleman), who played YourShot last year.
What sparked your interest in DJing?
Going out to clubs and seeing my favourite artists up there on stage absolutely killing it was a massive inspiration for me. Definitely sparked an interest and passion.
How long have you been DJing/mixing for?
About a year and half, so relatively new but also excited to keep going.
Is DJing your passion project or your future full time job?
Currently my passion project but I would love for it to progress into a full time job.
Who are your biggest electronic music influencers?
Nghtmre, RL grime, Getter, Enschway and so many more.
If you could perform anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
EDC for sure, it’s easily the biggest electronic dance festival in the world and just the thought of being there as an artist is amazing.
Do you have any side projects that support your DJing?
My partner and I are actually working on a duo act/collaboration. Excited for it!
Who is your favourite DJ and why?
It’s such a hard question to answer, but if I had to pick one probably RL Grime. I am obsessed with almost every song he’s ever released, such a talent.
What’s your favourite club in your city for banging tunes?
Chinese Laundry in the Sydney CBD 100%, always delivers.
What’s next on the agenda for you?
Im definitely going to start producing soon, so keep an eye out!
