Your Comprehensive Guide To The 2019 Splendour In The Grass Lineup

Thank the sweet lord baby Jesus, the countdown to Splendour 2019’s lineup announcement is finally over. You’ve heard the rumours, peeped the Fuji Rock/Coachella drops, debated the headliners and (if you’re anything like us) spammed fan pages with pleading requests for national tours. Now it’s time to load your car with hidden booze, pack your tent and start compiling a road trip playlist for Friday 19 July, safe in the knowledge that these incredible musos are there at North Byron Parklands waitin’ for ya.

The Headliners

Childish Gambino â€” YEAH BOI. The leg’s all better and Troy’s comin’ down under! The This Is America rap genius and contender for world’s best dancer is going to absolutely tear this festival apart. We’ve been psyched for this ever since last year’s ill-fated tour got pulled. It may be April, but damn it feel like summer right now.

Tame Impala — That’s right folks, looks like the rumours were bloody spot on! Local legend and global sensation Kevin Parker is bringing his sweet psychedelic sounds to the Splendour mainstage and we are ready to lose ourselves in the vibe. They’ll be fresh off headlining freakin’ Coachella, too, so you can bet their already impressive live chops will be honed to perfection come July.

Oh yeah, might be worth mentioning that Childish ain’t the only rapper dominating the mainstage â€” your friend and mine Chance the Rapper is confirmed! SZA, fresh off the Black Panther soundtrack, is going to seduce your ears and probably bring your pulse back to a normal level after you’re hyped beyond by the return of The Streets.

The big guns are rounded off with live sensation Foals, triple j mainstays Catfish and the Bottlemen, the inimitably chill James Blake and the soulful Santigold.

The Pack & Locals

If you missed her set at Splendour 2016, now’s the friggin’ time to catch Courtney Barnett, one of the country’s best exports and certified pocket rocket. There’s hella loca stock here, not least of which is a Mystery Oz Act â€” they’re still keeping their cards close to their chest, but who knows… could be Hottest 100 winners Ocean Alley or any one of a thousand incredible Aussie bands.

Other ripper locals include Matt Corby, Cosmo’s Midnight, national treasure Thelma Plum, Pist Idiots, Melbourne rapper Allday (& Friends), and Hottest Hundo alum The Rubens.

As for the overseas acts, Wolf AliceBroods, Slaves, What So Not and holy shit so many more my dudes.

The Dark Horses

Did I mention The Streets are playing?! So that’s a blast from the past already, but get this… bloody Wolfmother are here as well. Womaaaaaaaaan.

K.Flay has proven a festival mainstay in the past, and what’s a day in the park these days without Sydney heroes Tropical Fuck Storm on the cards? We’re also pumped for the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Trophy Eyes and all the sweet, sweet Unearthed winners (who will no doubt be even more stoked than us).

Great, Now How Do I Fkn Get Tickets?

We’re keen AF. Now all there’s left to do is prepare ourselves for the ticket sale. Yes, cue the nervous sweating. Tickets sell out quicker than it takes you to pull $20mil from the NRA after a night on the sauce. So be ready. They go on sale at 9:00am sharp AEST on Thursday 11 April through moshtix.com.au or phone 1300 GET TIX (438 849).

[Cheeky tip – get over to Visa Checkout and register for those sneaky Wednesday 10 April pre-sales. Dazzle your friends and infuriate your enemies by locking down your chance at Chance 12 hours before those chumps.]

A 3-Day Pass will set you back $415 + fees, with single day tickets at $185 + fees and camping at $135 + fees. Look, safe bet is to just set aside a good $1,000 â€” you’ll be lucky if it costs less. All that’s really left to say is, good luck, and godspeed, fellow Splendourites.
