How To Meal Prep Like A Pro

Summer is creeping up on us (almost September already, r u srs?) and that’s right, it means another attempt at getting healthy again. But this time it’s gonna be different, ’cause we’ve got some useful tips and tricks to help you get your meal prep game strong.

Use a Blender or Food Processor

This is gonna make your meal prep time super speedy. So there’s more time for the gym… or Netflix. Blenders and food processors will be your new bestie for cutting up veg or making smoothies for brekky. Of course, some of us are used to good old fashioned chopping and have failed to buy either of these. However they’re well worth investing in and you can get cheap ones from Kmart or Target. It’ll save you heaps of time in the long run and god knows we’re all pretty short of the stuff.

Big Batches of Sweet Treats

Sweet treats are one of the hardest things to stay away from (especially if you’ve got a major sweet tooth like me), but guilt-free healthy versions are so easy to make at home too. Just substitute sugar for honey or other alternatives and scoff ’em to your hearts content. As above, just make sure you make big batches as they’re bound to get eaten in no time. Perfect for an arvo office snack or an on-the-go breakfast.

Meals in Mason Jars

Not only do they look super insta-worthy, you’re saving the environment too with glass instead of plastic. You can even just recycle jam or pasta sauce jars. Aside from how cute they look, they’re super useful to slip into your bag and take to work for a late breakfast or afternoon snack. Not just for yoghurt, you can put smoothies or salads in there too! A perfect space saving, environment hugging alternative to your usual chunky plastic boxes.

Utilise Your Freezer

Meal prepping can be expensive if you’re not careful so more often than not its better to try and buy items on sale or those reduced at the end of the day. This is where your freezer comes in handy. Whether you’ve cooked the meals already or not, your freezer is your new best friend in making your food last ages. Plus, you can just take a meal out of the freezer the night before for lunch the next day. Easy for those nights/mornings when you just cba.
