Ellie SindelWe’re well and truly into 2020 now, and it seems that 2020 is proving to be The Age of TikTok. With everyone stuck at home in iso, more and more people have been downloading the app to cure their boredom.
For the first quarter of 2020, TikTok has had 200 million downloads already. This is up 28% from the last quarter of 2019 which had 156 million downloads, and 523.5 million for the whole year. In March 2020 alone, the app was downloaded 75.5 million times!
We can see from the data that the high TikTok downloads are most likely as a result of the coronavirus situation that’s keeping everyone inside. We’re on our phones more and more for work, shopping, connection to friends and family, and entertainment, so it’s only natural that apps like TikTok would see their highest downloads coming from this period.
The top 5 countries with the most downloads are India (27.4%), Brazil (14%), the United States (13.7%), Indonesia (6.7%) and Russia (4.1%). Mexico (3.5%), Philippines (3.4%), Pakistan (2.7%), Egypt (2.6%), and Turkey (2.6%) make up the top 10 countries, with the rest of the world adding up to 23.2% of total downloads.
TikTok Makes Iso Bearable
If you’ve ever wondered whether you should join the TikTok train, now is the perfect time while we’re in iso for a little longer. I completely lose track of time when I’m scrolling through. I could have been in the middle of a conversation with someone and then not reply for hours because I’ve fallen down a TikTok hole.
Dancing, making fun of the PM, pets, and even food videos are just some of the A+ quality content that’s on TikTok.
